Install

zsmtp does not yet publish an installation method in this repository.

This page exists to anchor the operator workflow and make the current state explicit: the site is ready, but package names, service units, and the supported installation paths still need to be documented from the implementation repository.

Current state

What is known today:

• zsmtp is being positioned as a zero-knowledge SMTP mail transfer agent.
• The first site draft is aimed at mail operators and infrastructure teams.
• Installation commands, package repositories, and upgrade policy are not documented here yet.

Planned delivery paths

The docs structure reserves room for the installation channels operators usually need:

• source builds from the upstream repository
• native packages for distribution-managed hosts
• container images for isolated deployments

Those paths should only be filled in once the exact artifact names, build requirements, and runtime assumptions are verified.

What operators should expect next

The final install page should eventually answer:

• which operating systems are supported first
• whether zsmtp runs as a standalone MTA, sidecar, or gateway tier
• what secrets, certificates, and queue storage are required
• how upgrades and rollbacks are expected to work

Until that material is available, this page should be treated as a placeholder for verified installation guidance rather than a deployment guide.
